Music education and performance experience extend far beyond the classroom. Mentor Orchestra students are encouraged to participate in area symphonies and orchestras to further their abilities and gain valuable experience working with a variety of musicians, directors, and venues.

The Lakeland Civic Orchestra is comprised of musicians of all ages and abilities, having very diversified backgrounds, from music teachers to office workers, college students, professionals and others. The orchestra is always accepting new musicians, but presently we have a special need for all strings (violin, viola, cello, and bass), oboe, bassoon, and horn.

OMEA Northeast Regional Orchestra (NERO) |
The Northeast Regional Orchestra, or NERO is a full symphony honors orchestra consisting of the best players in NE Ohio and includes string, woodwind, brass, and percussion sections. Membership is determined via audition which are usually held in late September. This select group is directed by a professional conductor and performs professional repertoire. The overall time commitment is nominal as the group rehearses 3-4 times, concluding with a performance in November. The top-seated string players qualify as members of the All-State Orchestra, who perform at the Ohio Music Education Association's Professional Conference in the winter.
